Why choosing a power plate? 

The Acceleration Training® of the Power Plate is based on Newton’s second law of motion: F (force) = M (mass) x A (acceleration), unlike most exercise machines that use weights to increase the intensity, the Power Plate uses high-frequency vibrations of 30 to 40 times per second to increase the “acceleration” of the exercise.

Power Plate® Fitness & Athletic Performance

As shown in the study, The whole body vibration group achieved a 7.6% gain in vertical jump height and a 9% increase in dynamic strength of the quadriceps muscles, which shows that the athletes’ performance, strength and vertical jump height will be improved after using Power Plate. *1

The following graphs show the changes in vertical jumping power in the four experimental groups after 12 weeks of training:

The whole-body vibration group: used Power Plate at a frequency of 35-40 Hz, performed lunges and squats 
The placebo group: using a non-functional vibration machine, did not achieve strength or power gains
Conventional Group: a cardio warm-up and knee extensor exercises on two conventional strength training machines
Control group: did not participate in any training.

This study shows that Power Plate training resulted in a greater improvement of joint stability and balance than conventional strength training. Power Plate training also has the advantage of shorter training time. It should therefore be considered a useful addition to rehabilitation interventions after ACL reconstruction. *2

WBV training period of 6 weeks, through the muscle contractions it provokes, produced significant positive changes is selected kinematical characteristics of sprint running (step length, step rate and running velocity) and selected explosive strength characteristics (jump height, total number of jumps performed in a period of 30s) in non experienced sprinters. *3

Also, Simultaneous vibration and stretching may greatly increase flexibility while not altering explosive strength.

Power Plate® Health & Wellness

2009 study by the University of Antwerp in Belgium and Artesis University College seems to show that vibration plates do work. In the study, obese women who followed a healthy diet and exercised using vibration plates lost more weight long-term, including more hard-to-lose belly fat, than women who followed a healthy diet and conventional exercise.
The group who used vibration plates performed basic moves such as squats, push-ups, calf rises, lunges and ab crunches on the machines. They performed each type of 10 exercises for 30 seconds each, and gradually built up to 60 seconds each.

They followed this program for 6 months. The group using vibration plates lost an average of 11% of their body weight, compared with a 7% body weight loss for the group using conventional exercise methods. The group using vibration plates also lost the most belly fat. Additionally, the group using vibration plates maintained their weight loss 6 months after the initial 6-month study ended.
Adding Power Plate® training to a hypocaloric diet can help achieve sustainable long-term weight loss, users with obesity who using Power Plate® in their training can reduce visceral fat tissue more than if they simply do aerobic exercise. *4

whole-body vibration enhanced the effects of high intensity resistance training on body composition, specifically the lean tissue components in postmenopausal women, also, WBV increased lean mass without weight loss. *8

A study by the SANADERM Professional Clinic for Skin Disease and Allergology in Germany, six months of Power Plate training reduced cellulite on buttocks and thighs by a massive 32.3%.

Research at Loma Linda University, USA, has shown that exercises performed on the Power Plate machine help to improve blood flow to the skin, which in turn improves skin tone and firmness. *10

The conclusion of the study is that massage exercises (Figure 4) on the Power Plate at 30 Hz or 50 Hz for five minutes can significantly increase blood flow to the skin, thus increasing blood circulation in the arms

Massage with 50 Hz on the Power Plate has the added benefit of increasing blood flow faster and with longer lasting results.
