Sit-to-stand lifts (stand assist lifts) are designed for patients who have difficulty standing up on their own from a seated position and is used to transfer a patient between seated surfaces.
Made to support only the upper body of the patient. Requires the ability to support the majority of his weight while standing and control of his upper body and head functions. The user is lifted up while both feet remain on a secure platform and knees are placed against a special pad to facilitate safe positioning. It raises the patient to a partial or full standing position.
This type of lift is ideal for transfers to the toilet, bed, commode, or chair.
